Software for online darts
Hello
after a few attempts with a mate to get a decent setup, i'm just wondering what everyone else uses ?
this pic shows what i see on my laptop:

we're using webcamdarts.com - so the scoring is fine, i can see my opponent on one cam and his board on another ( though his board appears blurry - he's got it on auto focus so that may be the issue ) and this allows me to chose which cam software i have setup to use

He gets a similar view of me ( the smaller box at the bottom, which is larger on his screen ) but when i'm using ManyCam to get both my screens to show it doesn't allow me to resize the boxes / move them into a better position
last night i had the cam aimed at myself cropped ( only way to seemingly shrink the box) so much he could only see my chin!

is there any decent free software people are using which allows me to have 2 cameras ( one on my and one on my board ) and they're able to be moved / resized to give a decent view for my opponent ?

A lot of people use OBS. There are tons of video tutorials which will show you how to do it.

That will do what you want, the only limitation is the processing power of your machine.

Note that if you use OBS, you will need to install the OBS Virtual Webcam plugin.

Cheers Don ! I looked at a few others today but couldn't find anything useful so I'll look into that one tomorrow!

I may need to use the more powerful laptop if the current one struggles

I played one guy, he had the board displayed. Him self throwing in one Corner, and a zoomed in crop of the t20 and a zoomed in crop of t19area.....
Defintily need powerful set up for that!!

Wondering why the game was lagging!! Lol

I don’t see the need to watch anything other than the board. I’m not watching unless I’m in 200+ and they are on a 2 dart finish or something lol...

Your set up looks good for a laptop. I have A chrome O.S. and compared to my laptop it’s amazing ply clear, the laptop was a dual core the chrome is a quad Core, wwhateve that means !

haha cheers! yeah this is more a kind of " simulate the pub environment as much as possible " set-up
it's against a mate who i haven't been able to see for 3 months now and we used to be in the pub around 3 times a week playing darts! so hoping just for a clear shot of the full board, then one of us around the oche area for the more socialising part

my personal laptop is ancient but seems ok with the current setup - i've tried installing a few fancy looking softwares and the laptop isn't having it !

annoyingly , as i'm now working from home i've been given a top notch laptop  from work but they've blocked any software installation - so ican't use that, it does have hangouts on it but i can't see a way to use more than one cam on there
I'll keep hunting!

A couple friends and my father play using FaceTime on our phones. Simple tripod or even just the phone leaning on something close to the board. One guy plays in his storage room. Has a shelf right beside the board that he puts the phone on. Two of us have scoreboards and all can view them.

I looked into software and servers but it was too complex for the others.

DartConnect for me. They now have an option to use either the same device for scoring/video or 2 separate devices. So I purchased an iPhone holder with a bendable arm that I attached to the wall for the camera and either a laptop/iPad for scoring. Cheap yearly premium membership (I believe $24/year) and the online community is really growing so it hasn’t been difficult to find a match. And the software and data keeping is excellent. Online leagues and tournaments available as well.

On hangouts, just create another user (free Gmail is fine) and invite both users (cameras) to the hangout.

so it appeared the main issue was our internet connection - whilst the othe rhalf was working on her laptop upstairs it was slowing my connection right down for darts
Weve since got fibre broadband installed and no issues now

im using manycam to set up the laptops camera on me - and i bought a webcam for about £20 off amazon which is clipped to a stepladder near the board, pointing at that
manycam lets you zoom in / out too so it makes setup a bit easier
i then meet my friend in the lobby of webcamdarts.com and we use that for scoring ( plus it logs our stats ) (( which is not great for me - given my current lack of form!! ))

the other software i tried was very spec-heavy and too demanding for my knackered old laptop!! so manycam works fine

it probably takes around 10 mins now to get the board up on the tripod and get the camera into position and myself logged in ready to play - so it's all good !
i just need to try get my average up now
